Sensei Kate
Sensei Kate Kristjanson began her jiu-jitsu training at Hiscoe Jiu-Jitsu in June 2006. Kate was a student at the Fraser Valley RCMP Youth Academy where Shihan Steve was teaching self-protection to the students. Sensei Kate subsequently decided to take full time classes. Kate has proven to be a very dedicated student, rarely does she miss class and always give her best. For several years Kate was the only female student training.

Sensei Kate is always looking to learn and improve herself, even away from the dojo, in the summer of 2008 she spent two months in Quebec enhancing her ability to speak french. In the summer of 2009 she was accepted into a summer internship working for the federal Conservative Party in Ottawa. During this time she also continued her jiu-jitsu training at the Hiscoe School of Jiu-Jitsu under the direction of Shihan Ed Hiscoe.

On December 22nd 2009, Kate was personally assessed and graded by Shihan Steven Hiscoe, following a successful exam she was promoted to the rank of 1st degree black belt in Can-Ryu Jiu-Jitsu. She is among a small percentage of women to achieve this goal. Sensei Kate is also the assistant instructor for the Hiscoe Jiu-Jitsu Little Samurai Program.
